The iNtuitive Times Institute (NTI), the seminary programme for the Open International Interfaith Ministry is an international institute that provides meaningful training in the interfaith perspective, spiritual counselling and matters of Spirit as part of our Lay Ministry, Licensed Ministry and Ordained Ministry Programmes, leading to full ordination in the Interfaith Ministry through distance learning and intensive experiential retreats.

NTI awards:
1st Year/Foundation Year-Level I Certificate
2nd Year - Level II Certificate
3rd Year - Level III Certificate and
4th Year - Level IV Certificate

The Open International Interfaith Ministry confers on NTI students for each year of achievement:

Level I - CASC (Certificate in Applied Spiritual Counselling)
Level II - Lay Minister
Level III - L.M. (Licensed Minister) with special designation of ‘RSC’ (Registered
Spiritual Counsellor) or ‘Intuitive RSC’
Level IV - O.M. (Ordained Interfaith Minister) with special designation of ‘Intuitive RSC’
or ‘RSC’

The Ministry maintains a registration list of a)Registered Spiritual Counsellors, b) Registered Spiritual Healers, c) Registerd Spiritual Mediums and d) Ordained Interfaith Ministers; and confirms CEU's (continuing education units) allowing for the renewal for a 3 year period for each professional in: a)Registered Spiritual Counsellors, b) Registered Spiritual Healers, c) Registerd Spiritual Mediums and 4) Ordained Interfaith Ministers.

iNtuitive Times Institute


The iNtuitive Times Institute (the NTI) is the seminary for the Open International Interfaith Ministry and is an international institute that provides meaningful training in the interfaith minsitry and spiritual counselling by distance learning and intensive experiential retreats. The NTI awards Level I, II and III and IVCertificates. The Open International Interfaith Ministry confers on NTI students a Certificate in Applied Spiritual Counselling for Level I, a designation of Lay Minster for Level II, a designation as Licensed Minister and Registered Spiritual Counsellor for Level III and ordination as an Ordained Interfaith Minister for Level IV. Each programme will carry with it a set of professional criterion and specific CEUs (continuing education units) as laid out by the Open International Interfaith Ministry in order to maintain one's professional status over time.

NTI began in November of 2002. At that time, a number of people had expressed interest in this type of training within the Ministry, with a registration process of on-going CEU’s (continuing education units) to maintain a professional status. OIIM Registration Board has the goals of:


i) ensuring the public that the professionals it registers are credible and qualified to do
what they say they can do; and
ii) to have a Board with the power to take disciplinary action in response to
assessing complaints registered by the public.

What is unique about our ministry programme is that it is grounded in traditional counselling skills and holistic wellness, and includes a component specifically designed to complement and enhance knowledge and skills of wellness and other helping professionals in the human services field. The programmes are open to students from any country.

NTI is a school without walls. It has no campus, no buildings, no classrooms and no dictated schedule for the distance learning. The intensive experiential retreats are offered in the peaceful serenity of Atlantic Canada as either an 8 or 10 day intensive retreat per year. By special request and when appropriate, additional intensives may be held elsewhere for the convenience of students.

Although all 4 levels to Ordination combined are equivalent to 4 years of university training, students work at their own pace in the comfort of their own homes. To suit their personal needs, students can accelerate their pace or take longer. Faculty members also work from their own homes or personal offices. Faculty and students communicate with each other via fax, telephone, e-mail and postal service. All instruction, textbooks and supporting materials are in the English language.


Rev. Sandi King, B.A., B.Ed., M.Ed.(Counselling), C.C.C., O.M., Ph.D.(T.C.) and Rev. Barry King, B.Sc. (Honours), O.M., Ph.D.(T.C.) are the founders of (NTI) the iNtuitive Times Institute. Barry and Sandi have dedicated their life together to being of service in the Inter-faith Ministry movement. Believing that spirituality, intuition and gifts of spirit are part of our natural, personal heritage, they have worked the last twenty years to help ensure that people are empowered to explore their spirituality through whatever tradition or understanding speaks to them. As part of their ministry, they have also provided people with the comfort of quality and professional spiritual counselling services and intuitive insights. They believe the time is right to elevate the Interfaith Ministry Tradition through the lay, licensed and Ordained ministry training and give recognition to the reverence and professional context within which Interfaith Ministers offer spiritual counselling and other religious services.

A number of years ago, during Sandi’s recovery as a cancer patient as well as through their work with clients, the Kings more fully discovered, the healing power of Spirit, mind over body techniques, prayer, visualization & complementary therapies. Approaching the healing process in an holistic manner, they both studied professionally at the International Institute of Integral Human Sciences (IIIHS) and informally through a number of other venues. This path has led them to become Ordained Interfaith Ministers and in the process Spiritual Counsellors. They have been part of the regular faculty of the IIIHS, where they teach a course in basic ethics and counselling to the seminary students. They operate the PEI Branch of the Interfaith Ministry (the founding chapter of OIIM) and Kings’ Wellness and Counselling, a ministry sanctioned educational and personal counselling service. As an extension of their commitment to sharing wellness knowledge, they published The Natural Choice Journal: Body Mind Spirit and now publish a magazine called The Intuitive Times: nurturing spirit, mind & body.

The iNtuitive Times Institute is the culmination of Sandi and Barry’s many years of studying, practicing, ministering, writing, speaking & teaching. Through its programmes, they wish to celebrate the certain knowledge that there is no death and to share their love for this exciting field with any who would like to participate.
